This weekend Ann Margaret came to town to run the Army 10 Miler with Heather. On Saturday we invited Stacey and Tina to join us for dinner. The dogs were thrilled to have more company--they expecially liked Tina who had no problem wrestling around with them. Dinner was a barbecue, which was Heather's first time grilling unsupervised, and despite the face she caught the chicken on fire (so not kidding...), it turned out ok. Everyone brought a little something of their own to eat, and it was a great pre-race fun filled meal. The race it's self was treacherous. It was an unusually hot and humid day for October, and only 17,000 out of the 26,000 runners finished. They ended up running out of water during the race; we had to buy some at a hot dog vendor. But AM and I kept our pace down and our eyes pealed for whatever strip of shade we could find on the course. We ended up finishing on our feet, and in good spirits.
The pups are so good at acting pathetic. Look at us, we're so lonely, alllllll alone, and lonely, and sad, and just laying here hoping someone will take pity on us. It usually works.
Ann Margaret and Tina chatting while dinner cooks (burns).
So, I'm pretty sure grills shouldn't be smoking this much. But I was laughing too hard to do much about it.
Everyone ate the chicken anyways and claimed it was yummy. Truth, or just good friends protecting feelings? I'll never know!

The gang posing on the couch. First time Heather's figured out how to use the timer on the camera. If only the first time on the grill had gone so well... Anyways, left to right: Heather, Ann Margaret, Stacey, and Tina. With Kolohe facing away, and Otto too busy chewing on his bone to pose.
Kolohe getting some belly rubs from her mama. She's so darling. You can see Otto's butt just to the left, he's off camera, but looking very jealously at us LOL.

Otto adores people who wrestle with him. Tina was all too happy to oblige.

And finally, Ann Margaret and Heather after the race. Still standing and bright eyed. Truth be told right after this picture they ate omlets in front of the tv and watched really bad programming for a few hours. It was a perfect day LOL.
